Being a classified treatment, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a technical procedure that requires a pool of extremely trained fertility experts. The treatment generally involves fertilizing an ovum with a male sperm in a laboratory after which the acquired embryo is transferred to the woman’s uterus for implantation.
What Happens During An IVF Procedure
Generally, the treatment begins with an evaluation of both partners and in case no donor solutions are required, the following steps are implemented.
Ovarian Stimulation = With the help of fertility drugs, ideally hormonal drugs or injections, a woman’s ovaries are stimulated to produce a number of eggs after which the viable ones are selected for the procedure.
Laparoscopy (Retrieval) = The eggs will be extracted through a minimally invasive surgery, normally via the pelvic cavity after a trigger shot. The eggs are left to mature for a few days, after which your male partner will provide his sperms through masturbation or surgical retrieval.
Fertilization = The eggs and the sperms are combined in a Petri dish and once fertilization occurs, the embryos are cultured for a few days.
Transfer = It refers to the introduction of at least 2 or 3 embryos in the woman’s uterus to help her get pregnant. Our IVF centre in Delhi is completely a world-class IVF centre utilizing unique approaches to help couples bring forth healthy babies.
