Treatment Options Available for Low Sperm Count

Treatment Options Available for Low Sperm Count

by adminon 16 April 2019in Low Sperm Count

Quick Enquiry

Male infertility has a number of causes which can affect the couple chances to conceive naturally. One of the reason is low sperm count which eventually decreases male infertility. Sometimes, it can also affect the sperm quality and motility (movement) of the sperm.

If you are facing problem then you should not worry as male infertility treatment is available which can help you to get rid of this condition.

  • IVF (In-Vitro-Fertilization)

IVF is one of the most used methods for Low sperm count treatment. During the treatment, the women are given a fertility drug so that her ovaries can produce a number of eggs. Once the eggs are matured enough, they will be taken out from the ovaries for further process. After that, the sperm and egg are kept together so that they can get fertilized. Once the embryo is formed they will be transferred back to the woman’s reproductive tract.

  • ICSI (Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

This method is another popular option which is used to treat male infertility. Moreover, it is also used in combination with IVF to have more effective results. In this procedure, a single sperm is taken and it is kept with them so that it can get fertilized. This process is known as cytoplasm. That sperm is collected which is moving properly as well as its shape is best and they are collected by using a  glass pipette (very thin tube). Once the embryo is formed they will be transferred back to the woman’s uterus.

  • IUI (Intrauterine insemination)

IUI is another option which can help to treat the issue of low sperm count. During the treatment, sperm is washed and it is inserted into the woman’s womb. Throughout the entire procedure, the doctor will examine your health to check how well you are responding to the treatment. If ovulation is required to be stimulated than it can be done with an injection of human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) so that eggs can be released. In this, no collection is involved and this method is fairly easy and does not involve any kind of pain.

  • Sperm donation

In some cases, IVF is used with sperm donation when the sperm count is really low. This method has really helped many couples to conceive on time and become parents.

  • Surgery

In some cases, surgery can also help to retrieve the sperm. Sometimes, surgery can help to correct the varicocele or if the vas deferens needs to be repaired. If during ejaculation, no sperm is present then they will be retrieved from the testicles by using the sperm-retrieval techniques.

You should consult the doctor if you are facing a problem as they can guide you better which method will suit you best by examining your health.
