Is it true that the best rest after IVF treatment improves the success rate?

by adminon 19 May 2021in IVF treatment

        Quick Enquiry

Someone has rightly said that you should not believe everything you hear. It is important to ensure that what you are following or what is suggested to you is worthwhile. When a patient consults the best gynecologist in Ludhiana, they often get to hear about different things which are not true. Most of them are myths and this is the reason it is essential to only do those things which are suggested by your medical expert.

One of the biggest myths, when patients talk to their fertility expert when they visit the IVF centre in Punjab, is “Bed rest is important after embryo transfer”. Is it true? Let’s talk about it in detail.

        Busting the Myth

First of all, patients think that the embryo will fall out if they try to walk to do something after embryo transfer. As it is artificially implanted in the body, so there is a risk that it will fall out. So, patients should only rest after the last stage of the IVF cycle.

The fertility experts always tell their patients that, “The body is designed to walk, run, sense, sneeze, and cough. It does not mean that an artificially implanted embryo will fall out from the body if you try to do anything.”

Once the embryos are implanted in the body, they are safe and secure in the womb. Nothing will change the way the process works, so you do not have to worry about anything. Keep in mind, once the embryo has reached the womb It will work in the same way as the natural pregnancy.

Medical studies have proven there is no problem

Several medical studies have been done which have proved that bed rest following the embryo transfer will not improve the pregnancy rate. So, if you are going to get an embryo transfer in a few days, then you can walk 10 minutes following the embryo transfer.

Bed rest is not that helpful

Surprisingly, it has been shown that if you try to lay in bed all day long after the final stage of the IVF cycle, it can result in negative effects. It is like living an unhealthy lifestyle which is not helpful in any way when you are trying to conceive it naturally or through IVF.

In addition, when you are not doing anything, you will only think about what will happen and what if something goes wrong. Negativity can affect your mental state of mind which is not beneficial at any cost. The time will seem to go slower than expected. It is important to understand that you do not believe the myths and make sure to consult the doctor about all your doubts.

Take it slow, but make sure you are active

With that said, it is important to understand no matter what activity you do will not impact the embryo transferred to the body. When you try to be active, it will give you peace of mind, and the 2-week wait after the embryo transfer will go smoothly. The fertility expert suggests the patients get back to their normal working routine 48 hours after the transfer. So, there is no truth to the statement that, “Bed rest is important after embryo transfer”. Consult the fertility expert before you start believing in anything.
