Healthy Sperm And Does Sperm Count Affect IVF success?

by adminon 9 March 2019in infertility

Quick Enquiry

Fertility and pregnancy are not easy that we think it to be. Many times it is found that one in both couples is suffering from infertility. Sometimes it can be male who is suffering or women, many times both the couples are healthy, but still, they face infertility. Here let us get to know about sperms which are present in male organs.

What is the need for having healthy sperms?

Infertility is not just related to women alone, many men also have to go through male infertility. For a woman to conceive it is essential that her partner has healthy sperms. But, sperm health is not just limited to making women pregnant. Sperm quality is also essential for overall pregnancy and also for the baby.

What goes into making a healthy sperm?

Shape (morphology)

The sperms which are healthy ought to have a round head, along with a strong tail. Well shaped sperms are more likely to reach egg faster.

Quantity (volume)

A healthy sperm count should be 20 million ( the more the better) for every millimeter of semen.

Movement (motility)

There are very fewer sperms which move in a good manner. Only about 50% move to make their partners fertile.

You can do many things to have healthy sperm. You can do many things to make the sperms work in a better way:

Balanced diet

In order to make your sperms healthy, it is essential that you eat a balanced diet. Have a good amount of nutrients and avoid having junk food and other things which are bad for sperm health. Also try including all kinds of Vitamins, Nuts, and Lycopene for healthy sperms. Vitamins give protection against inflammation. They also help in higher sperm count.

Exercise is good but excessive exercising is bad

Doing even light exercise is good for the sperms to move and also to increase their quantity. Being on the overweight group of people can badly affect testosterone levels.

You can try to go for a 30-minute walk or try some push-ups. The hormones, endorphins, along with blood flow all aid in boosting sex drive.

Don’t overdo alcohol or coffee

It has been found that having soda and soft drinks damages DNA, thereby decreasing sperm count. Having 3 or more cups of coffee, soda or energy boosters can raise the chance of having a miscarriage. Same goes with having alcohol also.

Having supplements is a good idea

If you are trying to boost your sperm quality, then having a nutritious diet is very important. besides that, having supplements will also make a big difference in conceiving in a better way.

Some more tips to be followed :

  • Throw away all plastic stuff and try to buy products which are in glass, stainless steel or silicone containers.
  • If both you and your partner are having difficulty getting pregnant then you can try getting an IVF done.
  • You must always speak to your doctor before trying any infertility treatment.
