Premature Ovarian Failure: What are the chances of conception

by adminon 7 October 2017in female infertility

Premature Ovarian Failure (POF) is a common condition that affects both women in their childbearing age and those heading or in their menopause. Premature Ovarian Failure is a female sexual dysfunction or a form of infertility where a woman’s ovaries suddenly stop producing viable or eggs at all.

Unfortunately, there are few measures to combat Premature Ovarian Failure that at times may provide no desired results. At least 2 women in 80 in their childbearing age suffer from POF whereas 5 of 100 women aged 40 to 45 experience premature Ovarian Failure.

      What causes Premature Ovarian Failure?

The term premature points to an occurrence that manifests itself before the actual expected period. This means that a woman’s body suddenly just stops responding to the natural call of producing eggs in the ovaries for fertilization.

      It is a terrible situation characterized with fewer chances of conception since a woman will experience anovulation. The actual causes of premature ovarian failure aren’t known, but the following may play a part;

      • Genetic factors

Certain infertility cases are genetically triggered and they can occur at any age. Premature Ovarian Failure may genetically be triggered in some women, which may lead to infertility.

      • Treatments

These include chemotherapy and radiation that may affect the ovaries and their ability to produce and store eggs.

      • Immune system

A poor immune system or immune disorder may allow sudden occurrences and also attack the organs.

      • Surgery

A previous surgery or an infection may also affect the ovaries hence causing primary ovarian insufficiency.

      Symptoms of Premature Ovarian Failure

      Women in their childbearing age may find it difficult to ascertain that they are affected by premature ovarian failure unless facing infertility. Seeking fertility advice in an IVF centre in India will help relieve you from terrible stress. In most cases, POF symptoms are similar to those of menopause. Some of the indicators for POF are;

      • Menstrual irregularities

Monthly menstruation is an indicator that a woman is fertile and those who may experience irregularities, it may be a sign that there are health issues that require correction.

Menstrual irregularities will prevent one from acquiring eggs necessary for fertilization to achieve pregnancy.

      • Vaginal dryness

This is commonly a menopausal symptom where estrogen levels or production reduce, but also occurs during premature ovarian failure.

      • Low sexual drive

You will suddenly experience low libido as a result of POF.

      • Hot flashes

This is a sudden feeling of warmth that may continue for a long period of time. One may experience them in the face, chest and the neck.

How can Premature Ovarian Failure be treated?

      You will automatically require infertility treatment in India in case you desire to have children. The following can help;

      Egg donation & IVF

There are egg donors from whom you can get quality eggs at an IVF centre. The egg/s will be subjected to IVF procedures and the embryo transferred to your womb.

In case earlier detected, dietary changes can help a woman correct the hormones and increase estrogen and gonadotropin secretion for a natural conception.

Massage Therapy to Treat Female Infertility- what you must know

Massage Therapy to Treat Female Infertility- what you must know

by adminon 7 October 2017in female infertility

Conceiving after marriage is no longer a sure deal for some couples, many live worried about their chances of conception once married. This is due to the various experiences like infections, trauma or genetic problems that may compromise fertility.

Advanced technology provides various means of conception through the scientific methods of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology), but it isn’t everyone’s wish to opt for them much as they dearly love to have a child or children in life.

Procedures like infertility drugs, ICSI, and above all IVF have proved to bring hope in many infertile couples’ lives. The case of IVF where the eggs are extracted from a woman and the sperms from a man and then joined in a petri dish for fertilization. The formed embryo is then transferred to the woman’s uterus for implantation.

      However, IVF isn’t openly welcomed or accepted by some couples, especially the women due to;

      • Emotional stress

      • Various hormone injections

      • High expenditure

      • Failed treatment cycles

      • Side effects and complications that include multiple pregnancies

      • Uncertainties among others

According to the latest news, that is awesome and worth reading, FOX News published a story of a one named woman (Pamela Soto) who had struggled with infertility for more than 2 years.

Once she got married to her husband John Henry Soto, they decided to have children after a year. When that one year elapsed, Pamela realized that she couldn’t conceive. She later searched for fertility advice after 2 years of trying.

Since she never desired to undergo any scientific protocols of conception, she searched for various natural ways for conception and that is when she landed on a clinic that provides massage as the main treatment for infertility.

The trained personnel confirmed that they only specialize in massage as the main fertility treatment. They, first of all, acquire necessary information on the patient, carry out different checkups and above all ultrasounds to view the entire woman’s organs.

Once they capture the source of infertility, that is where massage is performed.

      Massage for Blocked Fallopian Tubes

The Fallopian tubes are vital for conception, but they are at times affected due to trauma, infections, and adhesion. This causes the Fallopian tubes to get blocked, preventing the egg from meeting the sperm.

During Infertility treatment in India, blocked Fallopian tubes are normally treated through a surgery which removes the blockage to allow the sperm meet the egg.

While this is not the same approach with massaging, the natural way of correcting Fallopian tubes requires an expert to massage the affected region and straighten the tubes. This can take about 5 to 6 months.

According to Pamela, she learnt that she was pregnant after 6 months of the massage therapy and she can have another child in case they desire.

      The physical therapy can correct other factors like;

      • Endometriosis

      • Adhesions

      • Mucus

      • Hormonal dysfunctions

To Pamela, she narrates that there is no pain, but one will have to experience an uncomfortable feeling that is hardly described but may be bearable than the infertility procedures in any IVF Centre in Delhi that may only produce negative results.

The happy months turned sour with time much of the confusion coming in from the mother-in-law. She had to bear with that the fact that such issues are common in marriages. The midnight sleep was the piece of cake she treasured in her life apart from having a caring husband who most of the time was busy

The first year of her marriage meant the end of the honeymoon and a new phase begun. From the confusions and difficulties, there came infertility an issue that turned the family members into wolves. She tried different treatments, but all in vain. Four years passed and all she could carry were the pillows in her bedroom. She and her husband had various checkups and treatments that failed until she happened to visit doctor Sofat. With the proper examinations and tests, it was found to be unexplained infertility because the woman and the husband were normal and healthy functioning reproductive systems. The best option was IVF treatment to save time and the costs. Luckily, with only one treatment cycle, the woman was able to have a successful implantation. Crossing the line of infertility to fertility in the case of Blocked Fallopian tubes

by adminon 11 May 2017in female infertility

Today young girls battle with STDs, infections, unwanted pregnancies, and poor lifestyles the major causes of infertility today. These problems are visible since they have signs and symptoms and they can effectively be treated to close the road to infertility, but there is a master that is silent in causing infertility- (Blocked Fallopian Tubes)

Do you know that mere menstruating each month doesn’t mean that you are fertile? Blocked Fallopian tubes problem is rising in women today and its causes are; infections that lead to inflammation, appendicitis, STDs like Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) that pave a way to scarring in the pelvic region. These same issues cause the tubes to be tightly twisted that alter their shape or damage them seriously. Other causes include endometriosis where the uterine lining grows in other parts and cause obstruction and there are also some chances for a past surgery to cause a blockage in the Fallopian tubes

      What are Fallopian Tubes?

Fallopian Tubes are two thin passages, each at every side of the hip and they act as the middlemen between the uterus and the ovaries. These tubes when healthy and normal facilitate the smooth movement of the fertile egg from the ovary to the outer third of the Fallopian tube or to the upper portion of the uterus where the sperm cell meets it and then fertilization occurs.

When there is a blockage, obstruction, or when the tubes are badly twisted, the sperms are prevented from meeting the egg and fertilization may not occur. In other cases when fertilization occurs, it may lead to an ectopic pregnancy a serious case when the pregnancy is outside the uterus.

One will hardly know that the Fallopian tubes are damaged or blocked until they are diagnosed or tackling conception failure.

      Diagnosis

Since the problem is silent, Blocked Fallopian tubes are mainly detected after an HSG test or a laparoscopic procedure. The fertility history is considered, past surgeries and infections

      Blocked Fallopian Tubes Treatment

      • You can say that some treatments are simple while others are invasive, but the major aim is to help a woman conceive in a healthy way. Treatment mainly depends on the results of the diagnostic procedure
      • Some simple treatments only require hydrotubation, a procedure where a saline solution is flushed into the Fallopian tubes to clear the obstruction.
      • In the requirement of a surgery, a laparoscopic surgery (keyhole surgery) or a microsurgery may be conducted to repair the tubes.

Getting pregnant with Blocked Fallopian tubes

In the case where one Fallopian tube is normal and healthy, a woman can get pregnant with just simple treatments and when both the tubes are not functioning other treatments like a surgery or IVF can be used.

A woman with Blocked Fallopian Tubes can get pregnant with the help of proper IVF treatment in India. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) practices are the major solutions for any infertility case, especially Blocked Fallopian Tubes.

Laser Hatching Process in IVF Centres

by adminon 17 April 2017in female infertility

The opening is intended to make it easier for the embryo to hatch after a blastocyst is formed. Many IVF centres have been drawn to this laser-assisted procedure than the use of acid Tyrode’s embryo hatching or partial zona dissection

      The Laser hatching process

Though this method is used in IVF procedures, it must be performed by only experts because the lack of expertise can cause damage to the cells.

      • In the first step, the part of the shell where the laser will be imposed is marked by an expert.
      • The laser is directed towards the shell and energy is delivered o the embryo’s shell. The laser beam can’t be seen, but the effect can be witnessed
      • The energy gets dissolved into the shell thereby creating an opening. The energy can be released for multiple times for the gap to be created, but caution has to be used to prevent mistakes and damage to the embryo and its cells.

Experts have found that the use of laser hatching increases the success rate of IVF procedures than in cases where the practice is not used. This practice has been found to be safe and easier when performed in a profound IVF centre. There are various reasons as to why the doctor can make a call for assisted laser hatching depending on the type of infertility a woman suffers from and help in embryo development.

Understanding PCOS and its Effective treatment plus management

by adminon 15 April 2017in female infertility

The condition is characterized with Hirsutism, acne, anovulation, and insulin resistance. PCOS disease is detected through an ultrasound to see whether there are cysts growing in the ovaries or not. Other tests can also be performed, including an X-ray.

The actual cause of PCOS is unknown, but it is believed that the excessive production of the male hormones (androgens) in the woman lead to the growth of cysts and problems with the menstrual cycle. PCOS treatment in India also has no direct treatment, but rather the doctor will treat PCOS depending on your size, insulin levels, infertility cause, and direct you on how to manage PCOS at home. The fact is that PCOS has no cure, but the effective treatment and management can reduce its associated risks and complications.

PCOS can first of all be drilled through a surgery to remove them from the ovaries. The surgery is conducted with the help of an ultrasound and a camera where a doctor is directed to the cysts.

Fertility drugs like Clomifene and Metformin are used. Clomifene induces ovulation and where it fails, Metformin is given to a patient to lower the insulin levels in a woman.

For the obese patients, physical exercises and dieting are encouraged to manage the insulin levels in the body and help in hormone balance.

Cinnamon, multivitamin tablets, garlic, consuming moderate proteins, and omega-3 fatty acid are recommended for PCOS patients.

Fertility treatments like IVF treatment and ICSI can be used to help a woman conceive a child.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in Women & Treatment

by adminon 10 April 2017in female infertility

It is completely a new term to many women and a few of those who know about it are able to tell every detail about this peril. There is no good in PCOS rather than bringing its complications, side-effects and above all infertility.

      What is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

It is an endocrine disorder where a woman starts producing more male hormones (androgens). This hormonal imbalance leads to many changes in the body and the end result is infertility. Estrogen and Progesterone are the main hormones that are necessary for reproduction in a woman. Once these hormones are in deficiency, a woman will experience irregular periods which makes it hard for her to conceive. A study shows that 2 women in 20 suffer from PCOS and they are in the childbearing age. This problem affects the ovaries of a woman that are responsible for the development of eggs necessary for fertilization.

The cause of PCOS in Women

The actual cause of PCOS is unknown, but a number of factors are to blame.

      1. Genetics

It is believed that PCOS run through the blood and if at all a mother or any other female member suffered from PCOS, this problem may affect the ones to come

      1. Insulin levels

The food that we eat must be broken down and converted into energy to empower us to carry out our daily activities. Glucose is what is formed from the food and is absorbed into the cells with the help of insulin. If the insulin levels are low or unhealthy, there will be an increase in the sugar levels in a woman. This is a common issue with women affected with PCOS

      1. Low-grade Inflammation

In case the white blood cells are not effective, the body will not be able to fight infections and other threats which make it possible for the ovaries to stimulate androgen production in the body

      1. Environmental factors

These include stress, unhealthy habits like smoking, and poor nutrition might be the other causes of PCOS

      Symptoms of PCOS in Women

The symptoms of PCOS normally vary from one woman to another. In some women, it can be noticed from the first time of their menstrual periods. Many times the symptoms depend on the severity of the PCOS otherwise many may not get them in the early stages which require frequent checkups.

      1. Hirsutism

It is where there is excessive hair growth in a woman, especially in the facial region, arms, and the legs.

      1. Menstrual irregularities

This is when a woman loses track of her periods or miss periods

      1. Male pattern hair loss

It may start as thinning of hair and only increases

      1. Anovulation

It is when the ovaries fail to release an oocyte during the menstrual cycle of a woman

      1. Acne or pimples

The breakout becomes more than it was.

      Diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

      There are different diagnostic measures taken by a doctor, especially judging from the signs and symptoms that a woman is faced with. During the consultation period, the doctor observes the body weight of the patient, menstrual cycle as the woman may detail it and the medical history. Other diagnostic methods include the following;

      • An Ultrasound

A Transducer is used to get images of the woman’s reproductive system including the ovaries. It is placed in the vagina and emits waves that create images a screen. The ovaries and the thickness of the lining of the uterus are the major targets.

      • Blood Tests
      • Blood is removed from the patient to carry out the following tests
      • Fasting glucose tests to measure the blood sugars are carried out
      • A glucose tolerance test to measure the glucose levels
      • Triglyceride levels and fasting cholesterol tests
      • Thyroid function tests

      • A pelvic examination

A doctor looks at the reproductive organ of the woman to find any possibility of an abnormality or infections.

The effects of PCOS on a woman

Women with PCOS always have to deal with a number of effects psychologically and physically. The high levels of androgens in a woman lead to acne and menstrual problems. These are stressful and can lead to depression.

Women with PCOS also have to deal with insulin and its resistance in the body. It occurs after the insulin can no longer support the glucose utilization in the body. It leads to diabetes in the long run

Acanthosis Nigricans a body condition where dark patches develop on the skin is also another effect of PCOS in women

Unable to conceive due to the fact that there are menstrual irregularities and anovulation

PCOS can also lead to endometrial cancer and cardiovascular disease.

      Treatment of PCOS

PCOS treatment in India is done in the following ways

      1. A laparoscopic ovarian diathermy and gonadotropins

A laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive method used with gonadotropins to stimulate ovulation. It helps a doctor to remove the cysts from the ovaries.

      1. A Bariatric surgery

This is normally used in the case of extremely obese PCOS patients.

      1. Assisted Reproduction Techniques

These include IVF, ICSI, and GIFT. In these procedures, the sperms are and the eggs are collected from the man and woman respectively, and joined together in a dish for fertilization. The embryo is transferred back into the woman’s uterus for development. Tests, patient follow-up, and monitoring must be done.

      1. Metformin

It is used to treat and correct insulin levels in PCOS patients. It makes the body become more sensitive to insulin and regulate the glucose levels in the patient. In the end, it improves cholesterol levels and reduces the chances of Type 2 diabetes

      1. Weight loss and better nutrition practices

Cutting down weight through physical exercises and having healthy meals is recommended in all women with PCOS, especially the extremely obese patients.

      1. Clomiphene Citrate

This treatment can also help to stimulate ovulation and pregnancy. It is normally taken in smaller doses at first and increase as the doctor may recommend. It can be taken in the form of tablets or injections.
