When a patient gets to know about infertility it can be a very wrecking and emotional situation. It not only happens with women as men also have to deal with this situation which many people are not aware of. In this guide, we have shared men also feel stressed when they are diagnosed with infertility problem.
Stress is the one thing which is part of our daily lives. Having stress for a long time can leave a negative impact on the body and it even adds to the issue of infertility. Evidence showed that the stress level in women who are facing the issue of infertility is more as compared to a cancer patient.
Does men fertility is affected by stress?
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, there are around 40% of infertile couples in which the problem occurs because of the male partner. Still, some people think that infertility problem occurs because of women only.
Well, there is very few evidence which showed that stress can affect the fertility of men. Due to this, the people do not know about the issue and they do not even know they should get the support for getting it treated.
What does the study show?
There are different studies which have shown that infertility can increase the stress level in men. Not only this, it affects the quality of life and increases complications in relationship. The studies also showed that stress can affect sperm and semen quality.
- Around 98 men participated in the study to check their stress level, coping skills, and emotional responses. In general, it was seen that men faced the issue of distress and threat to their future child. Additionally, when they were diagnosed with abnormal semen analysis the stress level increased.
- It also showed that when women are diagnosed with infertility men do not have the same stress level. But if they are diagnosed with a problem they experience low self-esteem, depression, and stigma.
- Another study on around 25 men showed that when there is a moderate level of stress it affects the erectile function and sexual confidence also declines. This is why men must also be given support when they are facing the issue. Consult the IVF doctor if you are facing the problem as they will help you deal with the issue.
