      Azoospermia: Causes, Effects, Treatment, and Infertility

      Azoospermia occurs in almost 3% of the males today. It is a serious issue that leads to loss of self-esteem due to the inability to make a woman conceive. This problem is completely different from low sperm count since, with Azoospermia, there is no sperm at all in the semen

      What Azoospermia really means

      A man with Azoospermia can never impregnate a woman and it’s entirely shows male infertility. It requires proper examinations and treatments to help a man conceive since it is a condition where there is no sperm in a male’s semen.

      Diagnosis of Azoospermia

      Azoospermia can be detected after a couple seeks help to conceive from an infertility specialist. It can be done in the following ways

      1. Blood tests

      Blood samples are taken from a man to check for any kind of diseases, disorders, or infections.

      1. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

      This is the best way of detecting any problem in the body. It uses a magnetic field and radio wave energy to get the real view of the images of the organs in the body

      1. A Biopsy

      In this, a sample of the cells is extracted from the male to detect the problem

      Other ways to detect Azoospermia are Ultrasonography, Genetic screening, and imaging tests

        Causes of Azoospermia

        The causes can be categorized into two different groups and they are blockage problems and sperm production. They can be explained as;

        1. Obstructive Azoospermia

        1. It is where there is a blockage normally in the genitalia that is hindering a man from producing sperms

        1. Injuries with the genitalia

        1. Smoking and over-consumption of alcohol

        1. Male reproductive infections that may include STDs, Varicocele

        1. Unexplained cause

        1. Genetic factors

        1. Hormonal imbalances, stress, and trauma

        1. History of a surgery, especially of a male reproductive system

        Treatment of Azoospermia

        Azoospermia due to a blockage can be treated by removing the blockage that may be situated in the epididymis, ejaculatory duct, and in the vas deferens. A surgery called the microsurgery can be performed to remove the problem and increase the chances of conceiving

        IVF treatment for Azoospermia

        IVF treatment in India is commonly used to subdue Azoospermia. The couple may have to undergo multiple tests and treatments to help a man ejaculate and produce sperms to make the woman pregnant. IVF treatment is taken to be the best treatment for all types of male and female treatments and a number of treatments are available under infertility treatment. ICSI, sperm donation, and IUI can be tried to help a woman conceive.

        Other ways to manage Azoospermia are;

        • Improving the lifestyle

        Quitting smoking and over-consumption of alcohol will reduce the effect of Azoospermia. Drug use must also be foregone

        • Daily physical exercises

        A man should exercise regularly to eliminate all the toxins from the body and also improve the strength of the muscles. Avoid tight jeans and sitting for long hours

        • Diet measures

        Include pumpkins in your meals, especially their seeds, leafy vegetables, fruits and take plenty of water.

        The chances of a man with Azoospermia to impregnate a woman

        The main important determinant is finding the actual cause of Azoospermia and its proper treatment. Azoospermia treatment in India can be attained from the leading infertility clinics to help a man have a child of his own. Once the diagnostic procedure is perfectly done, different alternatives are provided to a man.

        In the case of obstruction, surgeries are performed and where there is completely no sperm production, drugs are provided. IVF procedures are also the leading treatments for infertile couples.
